The Fitness Games (TFG): My Review - Platinum Edition

Happy Thursday!

I'm extra excited this Thursday because that only means Drew and I leave for my cruise in 2 days! The only thing I was a little worried about was fitting into my swimsuit. With the help of The Fitness Games app I was able to shed a couple of unwanted pounds and now I'm more than ready to put that swimsuit back on and hop on board.

I was given the Platinum Version of TFG which includes 16 total workouts, unlimited video posting, a create your own workout feature, and the cardio category with live GPS capability. All other workouts can be purchased for .99 cents - just a one time thing.

What I really love about the app is how user friendly it is. It's really simple, easy and no extra messy business. When you are ready to workout, you just click what you want to do for the day.

There are 4 features you can work on full body, strength, cardio or do cross training. I chose to do a full body work out and was presented with what I thought was a challenging workout. Another great thing is that you can select between beginner, intermediate or advanced, so you can chose what level you begin with. I started with beginner but will eventually work my self up as I get my comfortable. That means this app is here to stay.

I started the workout and by the end I was exhausted. I love a good circuit workout, especially a fast one. I usually workout during my lunch hour at work. I was able to complete this workout, go out for a nice walk, and take a shower all within my allotted hour lunch time.

If you are not familiar with one of the workouts then you can click on the arrow and you can see pictures/videos of someone completing a workout.

I love this feature of the app because often times when I'm trying to complete a circuit workout and don't know how to do one of the exercises, I'll skip it. Now I don't have to!

When using this app, you can either challenge yourself to beat one of your previous times completing a workout or find a friend and challenge them to the same workout you are doing. I can't wait to add more friends and track our progress together.

PROS:
  • Very user friendly
  • Can complete workouts in a short period of time
  • Visual guide to show you unfamiliar moves
  • Can challenge yourself or your friends
  • Can post  real time video's/pictures
  • Stores your completed workouts so that you can go back to your favorites easily

Cons:
  • Available through itunes only  Now available on Android devices!!
  • To unlock certain challenges you have to pay a one time fee of .99 cents
  • I wish there was a way to create a calender and put different workouts into different days so that you can pre-plan all of your workouts and have a mini program created.

It appears that the pro's outweigh the con's. I definitely recommend this app if you are looking for new workout circuits, are on a time crunch or want to workout with friends virtually.

Weekend Adventures

This weekend was a great one.

On Friday night, Drew and I went disc golfing (what's new) after work. We only had a couple of hours to play before the sun would go down but I knew that I wanted to be on hole 15 when it was so that I could catch a picture.

My phone did all of this "extra" stuff to this picture, but I love it

On Saturday morning I got a call from my Dad. He literally woke me up begging me to go to Houston to go to the car races. I said no. Then went back to sleep for approximately 2 minutes. Realizing I just turned down a fun day, I called him back and said Come Get MEEE!

The drive wasn't terrible at all. It only took us about 3 hours from Austin to Houston.

We arrived to the racetrack. The air was full of gasoline and burning rubber. I've always loved that smell because it reminds me of going to the racetrack as a little girl. The crew was working hard on Mason's truck. They take it very serious.

Tonight was an extra special night because it was "double feature" night which meant everyone got to race two races. Mason won the first race and got a trophy. His second race he finished third. We were all so proud and I was happy to be back to my stomping grounds.

Plus I got to ride around in this bad boy

Note to self: wear normal clothes sometimes, you don't always have to be in workout clothes.

Why is this chair so big?

After the night was over, we went back to our hotel room and woke up early Sunday morning to head back to Austin.

Sunday we celebrated my best friends 25th birthday. We went to a little neighborhood bar called Little Woodrow's. It was so nice to see all of my friends. It's rare that we actually get quality time together, especially without the boyfriends/husbands/kids.

We made a new rule. Once a month mandatory get together!! I can't wait for next month!!

A Jumpy House Escapade

Happy Monday.

And yes, I said Happy Monday because I'm in a really good mood. This morning didn't start out like that though. I was tiiireeeddd.

I didn't sleep much on Saturday because we stayed up late night. After a long day of Softball.

Then our friends really wanted to go out downtown. After several No's and a handful of excuses we gave in. We stayed out until 4:00 a.m and I had to be up by 7:30 a.m. to not only celebrate Grandparent's Day but also see my Grandma on her last day here in Austin.

My Mom, Dad, Brother, Sister-in-law Niece and Mema all went for breakfast at Dan's. As always it was a fun time, especially being able to hang out with my niece. She made all the Grandparent's cards. Of course my Dad's had to have fish stickers on it. She already knows him so well.

I thought it was hilarious that she had the ketchup bottle in these pictures because my brother eats ketchup religiously.

After a nice meal, I met up with Drew and his friend Ben to go Disc Golfing. It was a much needed workout. I'm getting better every time we go out there. I can't wait to start being able to beat Drew.

After our workout we headed to our friends son's birthday party. Mason turned 3 years old. He is so smart and very, very talkative. He had a jumpy house and Drew and I decided to go have some fun of our own in the jumpy house once all the kids were out. Once they all saw that we were in the jumpy house, they came running and I got scared the closer they got. They piled on top of us; jumping and running and laughing. It was cute, but I had to get out of there.

Drew was unfortunately was stuck in the jumpy house with all of the kids when he tried to leave the kids yelled "NOOOO, get Woody (they think he looks like Woody from Toy Story)!!" And they all ran towards him and jumped on him. And this is what happened to Drew....

That was the hardest I've laughed in my entire life. He was seriously stuck. It took two of us to lift him up and get the jumpy house back up and running.

We ate BBQ, Cake and Ice Cream, played on the playgrounds and watched Mason open up his gifts. It was a good way to end the weekend.
