Girls Night In

Happy Monday!! I'm in a great mood and I'm not too sure why?

Maybe because my weekend was nice and relaxing. It was one of the first weekends free, with no required activites or events to attend.

I spent a lot of time with my Mom and Dad and their dogs. I was so full of energy and randomness. By 5p.m. they both were wondering why they invited me over.

The best part of my weekend was spending time with my girls. We made a spread of meats and cheeses, garlic spreads, salads, and build your own pizzas. We had fruit with yogurt dip and mini pecan and pumpkin pies. We also went through 3 bottles of wine and a tray of jello shots.

We were supposed to watch the move "The Other Woman" but never got around to it. Instead we sat around the table, drinking wine, eating little bites, and gossiping, Oh the gossip. :)

We had so much fun and I can't wait to do it again with these lovelies.

In other news, my niece Madisyn got here first haritcut. Isn't she the most adorable little girl?

Monday Randomness

So I haven't blogged lately. I've been really down on myself. I've gained a ton of weight and have not done anything about it. I've just been depressed and taking it out on others, including myself. I've just eaten more food then imaginable because whats the point, I've already let myself go. I haven't worked out, because again, what's the point?

But today I have a different outlook on things. Today I brought my workout clothes to work and I WILL workout, and I will try my hardest. I've done it before and I can do it again. If I remember correctly, blogging was one of the biggest things that motivated me to do my workouts. So I will blog more often, workout, and try to eat healthier.

In other news, my niece Madisyn turned 1 on Friday. I can't believe how quickly one year flew by. For Halloween she dressed as a ladybug. The cutest lady bug I've ever seen. She has also started walking a little bit. She still needs a little help, but in no time this little girl will be running.

I tried Froyo for the first time. I'm gonna  have to stay away from that place. OMG.

Drew and I had a very busy weekend. After my niece's bday on Friday night, we met up with friends we met on our last cruise. They we're in town here in Austin and wanted us to take them out. We went to 6th street and took them to some nice bars/clubs. They had a blast.

On Saturday we woke up and drove to College Station for the Budfest Softball tournament. Drew's first game was at 2pm and his second game was at midnight. Since we had a huge break in between games we decided to get some rest in our nice room. We had a King Jr. Suite and it was awesome. We really didn't want to leave.

On Sunday morning we drove back to Austin. We didn't even stop at the house before heading to the park for disc golfing. Drew's friends met us there. We ended up playing two games and weren't done until 6pm. We headed to Cici's pizza for dinner and then went home and slept like babies.

This was one of the best/longest weekends we've had in a long time.

Cozumel and Progresso Mexico! Carnival Cruise

I had a great 10 day vacation. While only 5 nights were truly spent away on the cruise, the other 5 nights were just as glorious not having to go to work.

This was my 4th cruise (My 3rd with Carnival) and it never gets old or boring. I can't wait to start planning the next one.

This time only Drew and I went aboard the Carnival Triumph. I was really horrible at taking pictures because I had already been on this ship before. I felt like we were regulars, others constantly remaining close as to not miss anything spectacular that we might know of being past cruisers and all.

This time we didn't gamble in the casino, we actually ate in the fancy shmancy dining room twice, and we did not look at our itinerary for the day very often. We just went with the flow, took naps, and enjoyed each others company, all while sipping pina colada's of course.

We tried some things we have never tried before. I tried alligator fritters and Drew tried the calamari and scallop pasta dish. My favorite night of dining was when I ordered the prime rib which was the size of my plate. Overall we loved our food but never left enough room for dessert.

On this ship, Carnival had us seat with others for dinner. I don't know how they select who sits with who, but we were seated with two other couples all around our age. But both couples were newlyweds and were on their honeymoon. Is Carnival trying to hint at something?

Again this trip we made many friends and exchanged numbers. We are all looking forward to going on a future cruise together sometime next Spring. I can't wait.

Some notable things that happened on the cruise this time:

  • Pat Green was on board and even held a concert. We got to see him perform live in Progresso.
  • A girl we met got really drunk. She was taken to her room and somehow managed to leave the room. She ended up with a black eye and only remembers hearing "Hey, don't talk to my Mom like that"
  • A boy and his two friends decided to wander off in Progresso to the not-so-touristy parts of the island. They had to be escorted by wheelchairs to the ship. They don't remember anything, their money was gone as well as their ID's and one of them even jumped/fell? out of the wheelchair between the giant ship and the pier. They think they may have been drugged. Lesson learned: Don't venture to non-touristy areas of islands...especially in Mexico.
  • A big brawl that included men and women ensued in the comedy club, those people were taken away and isolated from the rest of the boat.
  • People were very attracted to Drew and I. We received plenty of drinks and shots, cigarettes, and we were even given two $20 bills by others just because. When I tried to give the money back, one of the ladies said, "Don't mess up my blessing! You can't give me that back." A very nice reminder that there are great people in this world.

One of my favorite things was the shopping in Progresso. After we rode jet skis and had a massage on the beach, we did a little shopping. We bought a hammock, Cuban cigars, a cool Mayan carving to hang on the wall, an ashtray/cigarette and lighter holder that just looks like a log from a tree, and a very nice all leather purse with the prettiest little details. I fell in love with it.

Everything that we bought, we bargained for, and a bargain we got. This purse was originally $85 and we talked them down to $35. The hammock $35, we bought it for $15. It was amazing at how much they locals were willing to go down in prices. We also bought 3 liters of the best organic tequila 100 anos. No hang over what so ever. Glorious! We also bought a single 3 liter bottle of Bacardi. We have yet to open that bad boy.

All in all it was a great trip. We had a blast and we can't wait to go back again.

The Fitness Games (TFG): My Review - Platinum Edition

Happy Thursday!

I'm extra excited this Thursday because that only means Drew and I leave for my cruise in 2 days! The only thing I was a little worried about was fitting into my swimsuit. With the help of The Fitness Games app I was able to shed a couple of unwanted pounds and now I'm more than ready to put that swimsuit back on and hop on board.

I was given the Platinum Version of TFG which includes 16 total workouts, unlimited video posting, a create your own workout feature, and the cardio category with live GPS capability. All other workouts can be purchased for .99 cents - just a one time thing.

What I really love about the app is how user friendly it is. It's really simple, easy and no extra messy business. When you are ready to workout, you just click what you want to do for the day.

There are 4 features you can work on full body, strength, cardio or do cross training. I chose to do a full body work out and was presented with what I thought was a challenging workout. Another great thing is that you can select between beginner, intermediate or advanced, so you can chose what level you begin with. I started with beginner but will eventually work my self up as I get my comfortable. That means this app is here to stay.

I started the workout and by the end I was exhausted. I love a good circuit workout, especially a fast one. I usually workout during my lunch hour at work. I was able to complete this workout, go out for a nice walk, and take a shower all within my allotted hour lunch time.

If you are not familiar with one of the workouts then you can click on the arrow and you can see pictures/videos of someone completing a workout.

I love this feature of the app because often times when I'm trying to complete a circuit workout and don't know how to do one of the exercises, I'll skip it. Now I don't have to!

When using this app, you can either challenge yourself to beat one of your previous times completing a workout or find a friend and challenge them to the same workout you are doing. I can't wait to add more friends and track our progress together.

PROS:
  • Very user friendly
  • Can complete workouts in a short period of time
  • Visual guide to show you unfamiliar moves
  • Can challenge yourself or your friends
  • Can post  real time video's/pictures
  • Stores your completed workouts so that you can go back to your favorites easily

Cons:
  • Available through itunes only  Now available on Android devices!!
  • To unlock certain challenges you have to pay a one time fee of .99 cents
  • I wish there was a way to create a calender and put different workouts into different days so that you can pre-plan all of your workouts and have a mini program created.

It appears that the pro's outweigh the con's. I definitely recommend this app if you are looking for new workout circuits, are on a time crunch or want to workout with friends virtually.
