Run Now, Wine Later!

Happy Friday!! I almost didn't think I was going to make it through this week. It seems that when you have a Monday off the rest of the week likes to make up for that day by dragging out the other 4 days. Am I the only one who thinks this?

Anyways, As I was picking up my jimmy john's sandwich yesterday from the reception desk, the receptionist also informed me that I had a package come in the mail. I was so excited because I already knew what it was.

My Ruffles with Love shirt! I absolutely adore it. How cute is that little bow? You can even remove it once it's time to wash. I was actually pleased with the quality of the tank as well. I ended up wearing it to work out during my lunch break that same day and the whole time I felt like stopping, I would just say the words on my shirt: Run Now, Wine Later. And you know what I had after work? A very nice glass of wine Seagram's 7. It was just what I needed.

I also finally read Gone Girl and it had me hooked. I mean I haven't read a book through since maybe high school.(?) Drew has never seen me really get into a book, so he was completely shocked with how quiet I can be during a 4 hour road trip. He would have to beg me to put it down and I'm not the kind of person that can stop midway through a chapter, so he would have to wait. He heard lot's of gasps and "OMG's". I was so interested in this book that after every couple of chapters I would catch Drew up on what was going on. He actually liked it or at least the way I described it. I loved Gillian Flynn's writing style so much that I'm headed to the library this weekend two pick up her other two older books; Dark Places and Sharp Objects. I can't wait to get them.

In other news, Mom and I went to Pei Wei for lunch today. It was really yummy. I've been a couple times before but tried something new this time.

This picture is misleading, as we were walking out of the door the place was buzzing with co-workers, stay-at-home mom's, and students out of school for the summer.

Mom and I started with the Wonton Soup. The flavor was incredible. I take my Wonton soup serious and this one did not disappoint.

For our main dishes mom had the chicken fried rice. I told her she was boring. And the flavor ended up being a little boring to me. I suggested that she add some of the broth from the soup, soy sauce and a dash of salt to make it tastier. It sure did the trick.

For my main dish I had the Chicken Dan Dan Noodles. I was trying to get something I've never ordered before, but even then, I was quite surprised with what showed up in front of me. I loved that there were sprouts and cucumber in the dish. I've never had cucumber in Asian food before but I really thought it was the perfect accent. You are given these two huge spoons that you use to toss all the goodies together. I thought my dish was really good. The only thing I would change is the amount of sauce. I thought it was a little overbearing. But nonetheless, I still loved my dish.

My coworker invited me to go swimming at her pool and have a couple of drinks after work. This sounds like a great way to start the weekend.

Thinking Out Loud #4

Good Morning Ya'll!!

The weather is beautiful here in Austin, TX. After a lot of rainy days lately, it was much needed to see the sun today!

Today I'm linking up with runningwithspoons to bring you Thinking Out Loud Thursday. If you want to join in you can always visit here page to find out more details.

1. I signed up for the Keep Austin Weird Fest. It's a 5k event and well very Austin-like. This is how the webpage describes the website. "The Keep Austin Weird Festival & 5K is one blowout party full of music, family activities and local vendors eager to reflect the creative nature of Austin, along with the wackiest 5K you’ll ever run, walk or slither. Think of this festival as the ultimate toast to Austin, a toast to hospitality, fun and a sense of community. No need to hide your kids or hide your wives (or husbands) as there are plenty of fun shenanigans for any Austinite in attendance."

I'm super excited about this race. It should be fun and a race like this takes the pressure off.

 2. Yesterday my job had an employee appreciation lunch/salsa competition. I think my eyes were bigger than my stomach because I walked away with all of this deliciousness unable to finish it all. They ordered tacos from Abuelo's with all of the fixin's.

 3. Drew's grandparent's dog loves me. I mean absolutely adores me. But Drew...he doesn't like Drew at all. Here is Drew's attempt at getting close to Rally. It didn't go to well.

4.  I've come to the conclusion that most everyone loves some Avocado. I'll be honest, I didn't start eating avocado until about a year ago. Now it's a must on tacos, burgers, or even by itself. I found this on stumbleupon and think it is very useful information.

 5. I was seriously thinking about going to a blogger summit this year. I think it would be tons of fun! I'm looking to go sometime next year after I get more information on which summit might be best for me. Do you have any suggestions? Which blogger summit would you choose and why?

6. I cannot wait for football season to start back, especially with the new coach Charlie Strong. I'm very interested to see how this season will go. First game isn't until August 30th, why does that sound so far away? I hope we get as good of seats as we did in years past!

Phone Dump!

Good Morning!!

I hope you all had a great weekend. I know I sure did! The family and I all headed out to Rockport, Texas. It was so nice mainly because there was no itinerary. We got to wake up when we wanted, eat when we wanted, and fish until we couldn't fish anymore.

I left my camera in Drew's car, so I'll post about that tomorrow! Boo, I know. So today I'll just be phone dumpin'.

I've been working out again, consistently. It feels so great. I can feel my body changing. While I haven't been running much, I've been focusing more on strength training. I'll get to running again here soon. I've been using the Samsung Workout Trainer and I love it. I'm currently doing two different programs, Lose It. Tone It and Slim & Trim Bootcamp. I absolutely love it. Workouts vary from 8 minute stretches to 40 minutes of cardio to 20 minutes of Tabata. I love the variety.

When we ventured our way to Port Aransas, the guy next to us caught a stingray. I thought that was pretty interesting. Especially when they grabbed it's tail to keep it from whipping them.  And then there was this bird that wouldn't let you pass him. There was this stare about him that was so creepy.

Everyday I fall more and more in love with Andrew. There is something about him that always makes me want to cuddle him. I just want to feel his warm embrace. Is it weird that my favorite smell is when I'm hugging him after a hard day's of work, and I can just smell the oil, gas, and sweat? I think it's because I know he worked hard all day to help support the two of us. I love him.

Thinking out Loud #3

It's Thursday! You know the drill by now! It's Thinking Out Loud Thursday with Amanda @ runningwithspoons. This is one of my favorite days to blog because I don't have to think of a topic, I really just have an excuse to be random. So if you'd like to join in and would like more info visit Amanda's page.

1. I had a pretty bomb ass sandwich yesterday from Potbelly Sandwich Shop.

I had the roast beef with provolone cheese, hot peppers, lettuce, oil and vinegar. I may have brought my own chips in to save money. Anything to save money right. Also, there was an old country singer there playing some live music. It was too cute.

2. We made last minute plans yesterday to go to the beach this weekend for Memorial Day! We'll be leaving tomorrow at 2pm and head to Rockport, Texas. On Saturday or Sunday we will probably make our way over to Port Aransas, Texas. I'm so excited for fishing and swimming and more fishing.

3. Drew has this way with dogs. They automatically attract to him and he does the same. See proof.

5. I created this awesome workout the other day. You should give it a try and get that booty lookin' right for summer, summer, summer timmmmee!

6. One of my favorite reads lately came from Sweet Miles. The post was about taking Instagram or to me any social media site with a grain of salt and how pictures can be misleading. You should really check it out.

7. I have some pretty loony coworkers. I love most of them but some are crazy. Oh and there is a food thief in the office. Since our department move to our own building next door there is only 8 people over here. And a lot of food is coming up missing. Who is the culprit. Oh, and some of the food that is cooked in the microwave is pretty suspect...eewww

100th Post and a Booty Workout!

Yes, you read that right! 100th post. I can't believe that this blog would have ever gotten this far. It's kind of crazy but I'm very excited to know that I have a lot of content/memories to look back on. For this I am thankful.

This weekend Mom and I had a little workout session in her living room. I love doing workouts that don't require weights and don't require your presence at that gym. If your looking for a quick, no-weights workout then here is a good one to try.

This workout was extra sweaty and quick and by the end I felt really, really good.

After the workout Mom and I headed out to run some errands. I got a new workout shirt and sports bra. I'm really loving the Champion brand Max Support. I FINALLY found a good bra.

I also picked up some items to do a DIY project for my Dad. I was really excited to get this done for him because I didn't want him to have to pay money for a night stand when I could just remodel something old that he had.

Before

During
After
I still want to add a design on to the sides of it. I was thinking about the Aggies logo on the side and "Gig 'em" on the top. But why ruin a good thing with the Aggies logo ;)

I've been really consistent with my workouts for the past 3 weeks. The habit is  back. I'm feeling great, I can feel my muscles growing, my self-esteem is coming back. I can't wait for what's to come.

I shall celebrate with a watermelon margarita....or not. It looks good, the idea is good, but I didn't care for it.

Don't You Hate It When...

Happy Friday! I know I'm super excited about it...but don't you hate it when you know you have to go back to work in just a few days.

That's why I'm dedicating this post to things I hate! I know, how positive of me.

Don't you hate it when you really have to go #2 in the restroom and lucky you, no one else is in the restroom. But the moment it's time to release someone walks in and you struggle to hold it in. :)

Don't you hate it when you finally make yourself presentable and do your hair but the moment you step outside it's either raining or super humid.

Don't you hate it when the drive through gets your order wrong and you don't realize this until you make it all the way home. Makes me wanna cry, how hard is it to get an order right?

Don't you hate it when you are on your way to complete an important task but then you get distracted and forget what you were supposed to be doing originally.

Don't you hate it when your taco shells cracks after the first bite.

Don't you hate when you are walking down a hallway and someone is coming from the other direction and neither of you know which way to go, so you have an awkward little dance with them until you both decide which way to go.

Don't you hate it when you get to the store and realize that you didn't bring your own grocery bags so you buy more while you are there and this happens every time you go to the store because you can't remember your reusable bags that you bought last time.

Don't you hate it when you say Your Welcome but the other person never said Thank You.

Don't you hate it when your alarm never goes off but you know that you set it. I set it, I promise...that was the last thing I did last night. Stupid Alarm.

Thinking Out Loud #2

Today I'm linking up with Amanda from Running with Spoons for Thinking Out Loud Thursday!! If you would like to join, head on the her page to find out more information!

1. The grossest thing to me is cloth napkins that they provide at restaurants. You know, the ones that contain your silverware. Which are the same ones that I've seen people use to blow their nose. eww, just eww. I understand that they wash them, but the thought of my silverware and my mouth touching something that has someones nasties on it just grosses me out.

2. Last night Drew and I had the whole bar to ourselves, or so it felt. And the Spurs were on in the finals, and we live in Texas. Why was no one out? I thought it was so weird but we didn't mind. We had some privacy and it was nice.

3. I bought a new phone yesterday and I love it. It's the Samsung Galaxy 5 and it's amazing. I always like getting new phones because you have to spend the first couple of hours figuring out all the cool features. It's almost like a kid at Christmas opening up their Christmas presents. Oh, and I got the white one. I've never had a white phone. One of the coolest features is that it has a built in heart rate monitor. You just have to place your finger on the lens of the camera and booomm, you got your heart rate.

4. For lunch yesterday, I took a day off from the gym and headed to lunch with my Mom. We went to Pluckers. It's pretty delicious. I ordered spicy mandarin and garlic parmesan boneless wings a
nd a side of the creamiest macaroni ever. Mom had the Philly cheese steak that was incredible. I mean anything topped with queso is winning in my book.

5. I got the Brazilian blowout on Monday. It did miracles to my hair. I can actually wear it down in this Texas heat without rockin a full on fro.

6. I hate it when I think someone see's me waving to them, then I realize that they didn't. And then I look like a total loser. I then try to play it off like I was doing something else.

7. Today is Thursday, which means it's payday for me. Good thing because after buying a new phone, and shopping at ruffles with love, I'm kinda broke. I love Thursdays!!!

Amazing 24th Birthday

This past Saturday I celebrated my 24th birthday with some of the most amazing friends, family, and coworkers. I had a blast.

The Friday before my birthday, the coworkers did it up big. They decorated my space so wonderfully.
They know I love animal print and pink, nailed it!

When lunch time rolled around they had a whole feast for me. I'm talking the juiciest carnitas in all the land, yummy beans, avocado dip, tamales salad, tres leches cake, tiffs treats cookies, and chocolate covered strawberries. I just love my coworkers.

The next day was my actual birthday. My Dad had been smoking a brisket and ribs since 3pm on Friday through Saturday morning. So you can imagine how succulent everything tasted. The meat was falling off of the bones, it was so flavorful, it was so perfect.

After this the camera went away, we danced, and drank, went Downtown Austin. It was one of the best birthdays I've ever had. I feel so lucky to have such amazing friends and family.
